CORTON CHARLEMAGNE

Corton-Charlemagne represents the pinnacle of Burgundy’s Grand Cru white wines. Located on the prestigious Corton hill, this appellation stretches across the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Ladoix-Serrigny, in the north of the Côte de Beaune.

Legend has it that it was Charlemagne, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who ordered white vines to be planted to replace the red grapes that stained his illustrious beard. Today, Corton-Charlemagne ranks among the finest white wines in the world, nobly expressing the richness and minerality of its unique terroir.

TERROIR & VINIFICATION

The Corton-Charlemagne plots, east-facing and situated at an altitude of 380 meters, benefit from perfect sun exposure and limestone-rich soils. After a strictly manual harvest and careful sorting, the grapes are vinified with precision, then aged in oak barrels. This meticulous process enhances the aromatic intensity and natural purity of this exceptional Chardonnay.

FOOD & WINE PAIRINGS

A magnificent gastronomic wine, Corton-Charlemagne pairs beautifully with prestigious dishes such as lobster in cream sauce, roasted turbot, or veal sweetbreads with morels. It also matches well with aged cheeses like Comté or Beaufort. For elegance aficionados, it can be served as an aperitif with fine oysters or a scallop carpaccio.

Serving temperature: 12 to 14 °C.

TASTING NOTES

Corton-Charlemagne captivates with its luminous pale gold color. On the nose, you discover a complex bouquet combining citrus fruits, green apple, white flowers, and dried fruits. On the palate, its attack is lively and direct, followed by a generous texture underpinned by refined minerality. A persistent finish perfects this balance, revealing notes of spice and a hint of citrus.
